Loki of the IronWood by Maris Pai
My Dragonfly by Shaman's Harvest- for Loki is the bringer of ends and new beginnings. He is the Sire of Monsters and Trolls; their Spirits soar.
Maris Pai is a phenomenal devotional artist and this representation of Loki and His Ironwood family is one of hers.
This is the first representation of Loki I have seen that comes close to how I percieve Him. When I first saw the work it didn't make my stomach flip like Maris' Heimdallr work did (here), but it definitely provides an iconic representation of my Loki. My Loki isn't a slim, red haired comic. He is a dark haired, feral but kind God, a leader and protector of those He calls His own. He is an OverChief within IronWood, an Aesir by His blood kinship with Odin. Maris' Angrboda is also phenomenally close. I have often seen Her nude, and She is frequently surrounded by bowls; mixing, pouring, stirring, creating, and forming within their confines. I know this art isn't 'mine' but there are coincidences, some timings, for which I call this My Loki. I want to thank Maris for being such a willing tool for the Gods in bringing them to life for us. She has many other amazing works- please check out her site Marisvision. If you like her work you can always contribute to her other venture, Huginn. |
