Sigyn- My Lady of Blue PetalsLady of Un-Fettering
Housefrau, Nymph You took me in young and frightened I With firmness you soothed me Blue petals fluttered, drifted through my dreams Their softness filled my spaces and un-fettered my soul let me laugh, let me cry you did. With iron love you held me If you want sympathy you won't get it, but I will give you camaraderie. I knelt at your feet then we ran singing and laughing around trees. Both sharing in our love, our duties Sigyn, you are my Lady of Blue Petals For giving me love I will always honor You. |
I go to Sigyn, Her Grace does not typically come to me.
Sigyn is compassion. Pure and simple. But the compassion of one who has been through 'it' without complaint and expects the same of others. To ask questions is acceptable, to bemoan and complain about your Orlog is not. She is The Lady for those whose wyrd has carried them to a difficult place. If honor demands a deed for which you aren't sure of, call on Sigyn and beg of her advice. She will not give you sympathy but She will pick you up, brush you off, feed your soul, and send you on your way as any Mother can do. I believe She would get far more attention from many within the Northern community if it weren't for Her marriage to Loki. I find this quite sad. She embodies love, truth, honor, and grace in a gentle fashion seemingly lacking elsewhere in the faith. Interesting that She is then the one married to the God many consider evil. She embraces and accentuates aspects of Loki that many ignore or deny. Honor Her for Her love and frith. |
Honoring Sigyn
'Do you love me?'
Yes.
'Then honor Sigyn. She is my strength.' ~ Himself
Even though I typically see Sigyn as an adult, I honor her as her child aspect. Didn't really think about it purposely, it is just how it happened. I found a light blue metal tin with iris on the lid. Inside I lined the bottom with pink construction paper and put flower and butterfly stickers on it for decoration. I have buttons, a sewing needle, and a lemon shortbread cookie in the tin (all with personal relevance so may not make much sense to you though I'm willing to explain if anyone asks). She likes mac and cheese, sweets, and I recently found she likes white bread with Nutella. She doesn't like Kellogs Red Berry cereal or amber :)

How I view Sigyn
I usually see Sigyn as an adult in a light blue dress, a bit different than many others report. From what I understand, she either usually appears as a child or as a matron in brown or grey due to mourning for her children. I have seen her as a child a couple of times, never the matron in brown. For me, she is a 30 to 40 year old woman in light blue with hair that is tied up. Possibly it is because I am the one who typically ends up 'the child' in the encounters she graces me with. She treats me almost as a daughter and even if the visits start intensely painful and personal they virtually always at some point dissolve into giggling, laughter and games of tag. It ultimately doesn't matter though. Sigyn is Sigyn. For me Her blue petals of un-fettering will always be Her calling card, her Hallmark.
Never get me wrong here. Sigyn is a tough cookie. Of the Gods and Goddesses I have met She is the one who could wring the most fear from my soul. She is the one of all whom I'd rather piss my pants and then have to eat them than cross. Just saying. I usually see Her written of with loving prose. That is amazing and wonderful, She deserves it. But She has an iron will and a great sense of what is right and honorable. Don't mess with it.
Sigyn has magics all Her own. Of what I have seen, they outwardly appear fairly domestic and so are easy to overlook. She sews, has bowls of petals, teas, and plain ol' cotton cloths. If She pulls any out start watching!
